LAUNCHXL2-RM57L: Getting Board to boot from power on.

Part Number: LAUNCHXL2-RM57L

Hi,

The RM48HDK and CNCD boards could reset correctly once power was applied.

We are not having the same luck with LAUNCHXL2-RM57.  Even a simple blink LED test runs fine with the debugger, but will not boot once the board is powered down.

Wondering if anyone knows a trick to get the RM57 to boot??

I suspect there is some issue conflict with the XDS110 powering at the same time, however the NRST or NPORST switches do not bring the CPU out of reset.

Thanks

Stomp!

  • Hello Stomp,

Did you program any code to the flash? Does the ERROR led turn on? How about the power supply leds (5V, 3.3V and 1.2V)?

  • Hi,

Here is the process I follow:

    1. Program device from CCS, check blinking user LED and No nERROR LED
    2. Remove USB Connector
    3. Wait 10 seconds
    4. Re-connect USB cable
    5. Device does not boot, RESET switches do nothing, no blinking user LED, No nERROR LED either!

I am wondering if there is some limitation with the XDS110 and USB connectivity that it halts the RM57 somehow?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.
  • Hello Stomp,

    Please try my test case.

The test case is used to blinky the user LED (LED2). It boots without any problem on my RM57 Launchpad. RM57 Launchpad uses GIOB6 (pin J2)  for LED2 and GIOB_7 (Pin F1) for LED3.

  • Hi QJ,

As I've said before the quality of the support we get here is truly world class.

Your example code worked correctly, and led me to identify a missing call to _memInit_() in my startup functionality.

    Thanks again, problem solved.

    Cheers

    Stomp;
