Hi,

I am trying to follow along withe the TMS570 Active Cell-Balancing Battery-Management Design guide PDF. I have made all the connections and was able to load the demonstration software onto the TMS570LS0432. I am then able to run the GUI. When I select the cells i want to balance and then click "Balance On" the green light next to the "Balance En" and the green lights next to the cell numbers both come on. However, the voltages of the batteries don't change. It isn't actually balancing the cells even though it says it is. I'm not sure whats wrong.

Hi Chris,

1. can you please select all the cells for balancing, and check the cell voltage waveform?
2. did you click the "Poll Start" button to view the data?

HI QJ,

Yes i have hit the "Poll Start" button and i can see the voltage waveform. The problem seems to be that after I start balancing the same voltage is displayed for each cell, the voltage doesn't change by even 0.001 of a volt. It appearsto freeze up and report the same voltage when balancing is started.

Hello Chris,

Can you please set the display scale to 0v and 5V? I'd like to see the whole waveform. I mean there might be some pulses, but be filtered out by the display setting.
