TMS570LS1224: My launchpad may be accidently shorted, only LED 6 lights when powered up

Part Number: TMS570LS1224

Hi, all. As I said on the title, my launchpad does not work not. How could I fix it or it is damaged totally?

  • Hello Joe,

If LED4 and LED6 are OFF, there is no power on the board. But if the LED6 is ON, this means the board has power. Please check if 3.3V, 1.2V, and 5V are on the board:
    1. 5V: J3 Pin1
    2: 3.3V: J2 pin1
    3. 1V2: R29 close to Pin 38 and Pin 30 of J4
  • Hi, QJ Wang :

Thanks for reply. J2 pin1 and J3 pin 1 are connected, they are on the board. The R29 is also on the board.

If I connect the power to the board, the board has some "sisisisisi" sound.

If I remember correctly, I touch some CPU pins by a wire accidently, which means maybe 2 or more pins of CPU are connected at some time, and it shorted. But do this board has the way to "save itself".
  • Hi Joe,

If you short power pin and GND pin, the exceeding current will destroy the parts on the board, and the trace on PCB may melt and be destroyed too.
