TMDSRM48HDK: Connecting RM48HDK with TPS65381 (Hornet) board

My customer is wanting to check their TPS65381 initialization and control software using a RM48HDK with TPS65381 Hornet EVM.
They only want to connect the SPI and control lines (Rest, Error, etc) - not the Power Lines !

Unfortunately they have damaged two fairly old board RM48HDK boards and are in process of purchasing a new one.
As you can imagine they don't want to damage any further boards so do you have any hints / guidelines on how to do this or what might be damaging the boards.

Hello Bob,

How was the HDK damaged? It lost the power supplies (3.3V, 1.2V)? or no SPI communication? Do they have a common ground for 2 EVM boards?

When it fails the Hercules pulls a lot of power pulling the 3V3 line down to around 1V2

They connected:

· Two GND pins from J9 on RM48HDK to ground pins in CON1 on Hornet
· EXP_12V from RM48 dev board to VBATP on TPS65381 evaluation board to power it.

My customer is about to purchase some further RM48HDK boards but I am concerned they may also damage these boards unless we can find the cause of the problem.
Do you have any ideas what might be causing this
