TMS570LS0232: Product Service Experience for the certification of avionics devices

Expert 1995 points
Part Number: TMS570LS0232
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS0432, TMS570LS0332

Hello all,

according to a coordination memo from EASA (linked below), in order to apply for the certification of the avionics devices, the applicant should document the Product Service Experience of the selected COTS HW based on the time the HW has been used for aerospace applications and safety application. Then, the product service experience impacts with the DAL (development assurance level) the applicant can achieve. For example, to develop a DAL A software the following are required:

  • at least 2 years in the market with [hours of aircraft applications + safety applications] >1000000;
  • At least 2 years of use with { [hours of aircraft applications + safety
    applications] >100000 AND [hours within other applications] >10000000 }

I would like to know if TI can easily provide this kind of information for the TMS570 (expecially regarding the time it has been used for aerospace/critical systems), or can alternatively suggest some other microcontroller satisfying a required product service experience.

Thanks in advance.

Marco

  • Hello Marco,

    I will forward this post to our business team so they can compile this information for you. I will also reach out to you with a private message so we can exchange emails since this usually cannot be shared on a public forum. Do you by chance, have access to the SafeTI Private E2E? If so we can post the information there as well.
  • Hello Chuck,

    So, I will wait for the information. I do not have access to the SafeTI Private E2E. What is that ?
  • Hello Marco,

    The SafeTI Private E2E is a forum in which we can discuss TI safety related information/details that are covered under NDA. It is also where we keep our NDA covered safety documents such as our Safety Analysis Reports and the FMEDA tool. The FMEDA tool is a tool that is used to calculate the safety related FIT rates and safety metrics for IEC61508 and ISO26262 compliance. It is customizable to allow you to adjust the mission profile and use case conditions to your application in order to provide custom FIT rate information for your specific application.

    To get access, you can request it using this link: www.ti.com/safetyanalysis

    Part of the request process is completing the SafeTI NDA and returning it via email once it is signed by an authorized agent of your company. Once the NDA is in place, we will send a formal invitation to join the Private E2E. Other avionic customers have made use of the private forum for discussion of many of the specific requirements needed for EASA COTS device use. In the past, we have provided service hour related information on that forum as well, although, any information shared is obviously time sensitive as the service hours will change over time.
  • Hi Marco,

    Chuck forwarded your question of TMS570LS0232 Product Service Experience to me.

    I have a questions and a comment:

    1. Are you working with any TI sales engineer or field sales application engineer on your project? If so, could you let me know whom you are working with?
    2. TMS570LS0232 is one of the part numbers of a silicon consisting of TMS570LS0432, TMS570LS0332 and TMS570LS0232. The difference between the 3 part numbers is Flash memory size. We typically provide Product Service Experience of a family rather than a single part number. Hope this is OK.

    Please let me know.

    Thank you,

    Hoiman Low

  • Hello Hoiman,

    1. No, I am not.

    2. Ok. So, please let's consider the TMS570 family.

    Regards,

    Marco
  • Hi Chuck,
    I will share the information you kindly provided with my team. Thanks.
  • Marco,
    The information you are looking for can not be shared in public forums. Please contact our local sales office in your region and/or follow Chuck direction in order to get access to SafeTI private e2e.
  • I have finally got access to the private E2E forum. There are several documents to download, but I would like someone indicates me which one contains the information about PSE that I am searching for. Thanks.
