CCS/TM4C1294NCPDT: tm4c1294ncpdt reset problem

Part Number: TM4C1294NCPDT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I have TM4C1294NCPDT

i work on a project since one month and every thing was OK

but suddenly my Tiva controller stopped working

I tried to fix the problem with LM Flash Programmer but unfortunately it didn't work because when i hold the reset button the controller does't reset

furthermore:i discovered that the computer does't feel that there is a usb device connected

but the power led illuminates

Is It permanently damaged?????!!!!!

or there is somehow to fix this issue

  • Hi Ghassan,
Do you remember what was the last program running on the MCU? When you hold the reset, did the MCU continue to run? Can you provide more details? Do you have any LED toggling or some pin activities that are not stopped when you press the reset?

Ghassan, you need to follow the "UNLOCK TARGET" procedure in LM Flash.

Pay CLOSE attention to the sequence there - it is a "confusing sequence of power cycles and resets"...

When it says power cycle the target, assuming you are using a Lauchpad, you need to remove the jumper that powers the target side of your launchpad and then put it back.

  • The last program used three modules : ADC,PWM, QEI
this was meant to capture velocity and current of an induction motor then to give adequate pwm sign to control the motor velocity using predictive control algorithm

i removed the jumper responsible for 3.3 V of the MCU
but the computer didn't recognize a usb device connected to it
so i doubt that i have some hardware damage like oscillator or the icdi controller it self
but there is no sense of heat dissipation
  • Hello Bruno
i tried lm flash programmer and uniflash but i had message :"Error connecting to the target:
    Frequency is out of range."
i removed the jumper responsible for 3.3 V of the MCU
but the computer didn't recognize a usb device connected to it
so i doubt that i have some hardware damage like oscillator or the icdi controller (tm4c123) it self or something else
there is no considerable heat dissipation
  • It could be... but out of the 30 or so that I've had so far, my records of a damaged ICDI side of the launchpads is still zero.

Are you using a too-long USB cable? Or maybe connecting from an intermediate hub? These guys are quite demanding on the USB path.

,,, every thing was OK ... but suddenly my Tiva controller stopped working!

What happened during the period (just prior) to "suddenly?"     That's of key interest - yet silent!     What "handling" - added code - connections to the "outside world" - even the connection/removal of your board's USB cable (may have) or (did) occur?

Clues there (may) enable your "helpers" to "Restore your MCU" and/or (perhaps of greater importance) "PREVENT such Disaster from Re-Visiting your doorstep!"    (even if - and especially if - such visit is "sudden!")

More clues keyed to the time-slot just prior to, "Failure noted" ARE surely helpful - perhaps required...     (the "employ of "suddenly" proves curious" - invites clarification/intent...)

  • Hi,
Which jumper did you pull? If you pull the third jumper in JP1 which is to draw power from the ICDI USB connection then there is no power to the launchpad anymore.
