Currently we use a TM4C1294NCPDT but we are having availability problems. I looked at the drop-in selection and the only alternative with same footprint, flash, MAC and PHY is the TM4C129ENCPDT. The only difference is the E version has a HW accelerator for encryption. Since it seems more widely available, we are considering approving it as an alternate. Our question boils down to this: we want to avoid a time consuming re-vetting process to qualify this part, so we’d like to know if this can be dropped into our current design without risk. I figure since our current design does not use the feature, there should be no issues, but wanted some confirmation from an official source that knows the risk.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Calum,
You are correct the only difference is the hw security accelerator. As long as you don't use them there is no compatibility issue.
