TMS570LS0432: Which programmer is recommended to program TMS570LS0432

Part Number: TMS570LS0432
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN, UNIFLASH

Hi,

I am using TMS570LS0432 for one of my projects.

Which programmer is recommended for this controller?

Also, where can I buy it?

Please give me more information.

  • the recommendation, would be to use the same CCS in conjunction with HalCoGen, there are other programs on the network that can also use them, personally I have not used them because I have noticed that they give me certain limits of Flash memory capacity and others.

If, you inquire a little more about the Hercules forums and find more information about its use but with CCS and HalCoGen, which guarantees you a support when implementing your project and a quick response to your questions.

If you could tell us something about your project, it would be a much better reference.

    Regards
    Martin
  • Hello Ritul,

As Martin mentioned, there are different answers dependent on the meaning behind your question and the intent.

First, if your question is relative to development, the launchpad includes an XDS100v2 emulator that can be used together with the TI IDE, Code Composer Studio. Code Composer Studio has built in programming capability for the the TMS570LS0432 device. The standalone version of the TI programmer will also work and is called Uniflash. In general, whichever IDE you are using should have the programming capability built into it if it supports the Hercules product family. A list of IDEs known to support the Hercules family of MCUs is located at this link: www.ti.com/.../tools-software.html

The second possibility is that you are using your own custom board but still talking about development. In this case you will need an emulator with the appropriate emulator connector/interconnect designed into your custom board. The primary recommended emulator would be the XDS110 available for purchase at this link: www.ti.com/.../tmdsemu110-u. For use with Hercules you would need to use one of the legacy connectors adapters rather than the default CPS20 connector. For a list of some other emulators that are supported by CCS and support Hercules, follow this link www.ti.com/.../tools-software.html and scroll down to the emulators table.

If, however, your question is in regard to production progamming, the answer is different in that there are a couple of different methods that can be used to program the devices for production. Some choose to have a dedicated programming station and some choose to have it integrated into their ICT solution. In any case, these third party test and programmer developers would need to develop the support for Hercules on a case by case basis. I am aware of several companies that our customers have worked with in the past including DataI/O, ProMik, BP Microsystems, and many others. In many cases they may already have support for the LS0432 but I can't say for certain. I would suggest reaching our to them and ask or see on their websites.
