hi all,

i need to connect between the tiva and the microchip switch KSZ8795CLX.

port 5 in the microchip switch may work as Mii or Rmii interface.

It seems that i have to config the Tiva to work in the same way.

please your advice how to make this connection working once in Mii and once in Rmii mode.

this is my first design with Ethernet, u think i need help.

schematics or similar reference design may help.

Thant for your reply.

Sections 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 on page 37 are talking about External Phy Interface using Mii or Rmii.
I am asking how to connect Port 5 of the KSZ8795CLX Ethernet switch to the TM4 in MAC to MAC mode configuration.
Also i want to control and manage the KSZ8795CLX switch via MDIO or via SPI by the TM4.
I Don't know if it will work at all.
I am not sure that the TM4 will be able to transmit and receive packets from to other members on the Switch.
please your advice.

That is why i asked for some kind of schematics or reference design of TM4 using Mii or Rmii that is working in MAC to MAC mode.

Do you plan to use the KSZ8795CLX as an external PHY with the TM4C device? Which TM4C device are you planning to use?

Noted. But at the same time wanted to make sure since the TM4C129ENCPDT does not support the MII/RMII interface. There are some other parts in the QFP package w/o the PHY and that do have the MII/RMII interface.

the plane is to connect the Tmc129encpdt to KSZ8795CLX (port 5) as what they call MAC To MAC via RMII/MII

Hi Amit,
Thanks to your note. now i see that the tm4c120ncpdt does not support MII/RMII.
So .. will the system work if i connect external Phy on port 5 of the KSZ8795CLX and to the internal Phy of the tm4c120ncpdt ?

Yes, that is correct. I have tried the same between DP83822 and TM4C1292NCPDT and it works. There is going to be a TI Design shortly on the same, that you may want to use as a reference.
