Hercules EOP Dates

Hello,

We are in the process of selecting a new microcontroller family for all of our products. We have evaluated over 10 manufacturers and have narrowed down our selection to TI Hercules and NXP's new S32 line (production scheduled for Q2, 2018). I think everyone in the group is preferring the Hercules chips due to TI's extensive toolchain and support. However, we've been bitten by part obsolescence a few times in the past. As an example, about a year ago, we released a product centered around a microcontroller that was put into end-of-life a few months later. We want to try and avoid that scenario.

NXP guarantees production of the S32 line for a minimum of 15 years from product launch. Since the S32 line is scheduled for production in early 2018, that gives us a good run. Does TI offer any production commitments for the Hercules series? If not, are there any estimates or roadmaps you could share with us?

Thank you,

Ben
