RM46L852: Expected Flash bit-error-rate (suggested Hamming distance)

Part Number: RM46L852

We would like to protect the Flash content with a CRC.
In order to be able to find out the required hamming distance we would need to know what is the bit-error-rate for the flash, could you provide that?

Thanks

  • Hello Daniweb,

The FIT rate of the flash is provided in the FMEDA document that is available as part of our Detailed Safety Analysis Report. This report is protected under NDA and would require that you request access using this link: www.ti.com/safetyanalysis. Part of this process is for me to request a SafeTI NDA from our legal team for your company to sign. Once it is signed, returned and finalized by our legal team, an invitation to join the SafeTI Private forum will be sent to you. The document is then available for download within that context.

For flash, both permanent and transient faults need to be considered. Also consider that we have SECDED logic that implements ECC to correct single bit errors as they are read from the flash.

Also relevant in your decision on CRC over flash is the size of the CRC. In Hercules the CRC module is a standard CRC-64 algorithm.
