Part Number: RM57L843

Hi,

In the current Hardware I`m using is no Serial Output implemented. I want to realize this with the Ethernet port. Is this possible? Maybe wie lwIP to get a console to my PC?

Best Regards

Marcel

  • Hello Marcel,

It is not possible to utilize the EMAC IP as a serial port.
  • Hi,

  • Hello Marcel,

If you were able to locate an application that acted similar to a console but used Ethernet packets instead, then conceivably this should be possible. I simply am not aware of anything like that. It also seems to be overkill for the purpose. i.e., ethernet based communications has a fair amount of overhead and bandwidth needs that would, from my view, be too much to use for debug purposes. My usual preference is to use a combination of JTAG together with IO pin toggles and such for debug. This is generally less intrusive and allows the application to operate without the extra overhead of SCI or some other communication protocol.
