I wanted to know if the wifi module esp8266 is compatible with my arm cortex m4 tm4c1294 launchpad.(I am using the energia IDE)

If yes,what are the libraries that are required to work with it in energia?

If no,is there any other way we can connect our board to the wifi?

Hi Ragini,
I'm not familiar with ESP8266. Looks like the ESP8266 can be used as a standalone application or be a slave to an external host MCU. The communication can be done via the standard SPI, I2C or UART. With that said, there is no software library to support ESP8266.

Below is a TI reference design using TM4C129 with a WiFi (CC3100) bootster pack that demonstrates the capability of remotely controlling MCU operation via the internet.

I had the same problem when wanted to use ESP8266 in one of my projects with TM4C1294. However, it uses simple UART bus so you can easily write a library for it.

I've made a short example project for my ESP8266 library and put it up on github. It is intended for use with Code Composer studio though, but feel free to use it if it fits you :)
