TM4C1231H6PM: date codes and silicon revisions

Part Number: TM4C1231H6PM

Hey,

The part we’re having a question about is the TM4C1231H6PMI.

Here’s what we are seeing when we query the device ID:

Date Code: 68AL66W

DID0: 0x18050101

DID1: 0x1011602c

Silicon revision 6

“Unqualified engineering sample”

Date Code: 68C4DZW

DID0: 0x18050102

DID1: 0x1011602e

Silicon revision 7

“Qualified Production unit”

According to datasheet, the 68 means Aug 2016.

Is it at all suspicious that 2 different silicon revisions would have the same date code? Am I missing something?

Calum

  • There is nothing suspicious about both versions being manufactured in the same month. The first device should be labeled as XM4C1231 and the second as TM4C1231.
  • May we note (for the benefit of those w/past/older devices) that there were "never" any commercially released, "LM4F devices."

All such devices were marked "LX4F."

As to "suspicion" ... that "L" was "exiled" ... "X" retained - and then,  "X was promoted" to,  "First position" w/in the revised, part labeling sequence...

As "suspicion" has been introduced (earlier - and by others) - perhaps  "XIKE"  would prove more "acceptable" to the "foes" of  LIKE...
