TM4C129ENCPDT: How to use the RTC?

Part Number: TM4C129ENCPDT

Hi all,

We have a 32.768 kHz oscillator connected to pin 66 (XOSC0) to provide for a Real Time Clock. But how to use it? I failed to locate any TivaWare APIs for setting up or dealing with the RTC. Nor could I find an example program in TivaWare. Any pointers?

Thanks,

  • I was surprised by your, "report of difficulty."      And then - could NOT find RTC data either!

As a "big fan" of the  "Peripheral Driver Library Guide" - I "searched under "RTC" - and rather than having its own "section/segment" - the bulk of  "RTC Data is cast w/in the "Hibernate Section!"     (who knew - yet there is (some ... although minimal) logic in that.

Even better - "Searching for "RTC" w/in our 4C123 manual - opened a "Pandora's Box" of  "hits."    (over 100!)     Below - one representative sample:

I suspect that same investigation of "Hibernate" w/in (your) MCU Manual - will further detail.

And - I recall "Forum Great" Amit - having answered (many) RTC issues.     (those revealed via your keyword "RTC" w/in the forum search box (up top.)

    Allez!

  • Wow. In the "Hibernate" section... Who'd a thunk it?

Thank you for this. I will read up on it right away.
  • There is (some) although not (much) logic in such "indirectness."
I suspect the best "RTC Code Examples" to reside w/in "Forum Search Box results" - keyword: RTC.
  • I found the RTC functions. Given that this is part of the Hibernation module, the TivaWare functions for dealing with Real Time Clock and Calendar are in:

    C:\ti\TivaWare_C_Series-2.1.4.178\driverlib\hibernate.c.

    I had a much-too-difficult time finding that.
  • Indeed it is not, "Especially Intuitive." Did not the first (and only) responding post - well meet your request?    (yet sits as only (suggested) - rather than verified.)

Follow on readers can,  "Halt their Search" when they encounter the "Verified Answer" - c'est bien?

  • Sir yes sir! One green box, coming right up
  • Thank you, Sir.     As past military officer - "Sir, yes Sir" - echoes from the past. (such response generated when the BNCO asked if we had "locked onto" - the offending/penetrating aircraft.   (we HAD!)
Had the manual "segmentation/labeling been mine" - I would have (at minimum) labeled the (mystery) chapter as "Hibernate & RTC Module."     Wasting user/specifier time - is NOT how to "Generate Sales!"
