Hi,

I'm currently designing a Battery Management System using the BQ76PL455A-Q1 using the TMS570LS0432 MCU, on the Hercules launchpad there is an emulator as well as other peripheral circuitry, is it possible to only use the PL455 IC connected to the TMS570 MCU and program the TMS570 using only JTAG connections without an emulator?

Hello Alex,

The Launchpad has a built-in emulator (XDS100v2 ). Yes, you don't need an external emulator to program the TMS570 on launchpad.

Thanks for your reply,

My question is more regarding bespoke designs using the TMS570LS0432 (e.g. not using the launch pad) is an emulator on the chip still needed or can I simply use the TMS570LS0432 on its own and programmed using the XDS110 JTAG Debug Probe via the JTAG connections?

Hi Alex,

You don't need to put XDS100/XDS110 on your own development board. You can program LS0432 through the JTAG connector using an external emulator (XDS110, XDS100, XDS200, Jlink, etc).
