EK-TM4C123GXL: IICDC

Part Number: EK-TM4C123GXL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA,

How to set communication between Matlab and tiva TM4C123GXL KIT. We are using Energia software for programming of tiva TM4C123GXL KIT. And we want to send the output of Matlab serially to tiva TM4C123GXL KIT using energia.  how to do this please guide us.

  • May we ask, "How you've chosen (only) the TM4C forum" - to respond to your, "Three Source, Guidance Request?"
How have you concluded that "TM4C" personnel are: (first) proper - and (then) able/willing - to provide guidance for "NON-TM4C issues?"

Would not your request prove more compelling (i.e. (somewhat) compelling) if you noted that you had, "Sought such assistance from those TWO OTHER - far more DIRECT SOURCES?" (Matlab & Energia)

Again - I know of NO FORUM which will, "Accept & Provide Guidance" for each/every "External Device or Entity" - without limit.
It is suspected that you'll - fare far better - by addressing your "Non-TM4C issues" to those (other) sources, "Best Equipped, Focused, & Aware" to comment upon (their own) products & implementations.

Wish you success - kindly do consider, "More Direct Source Addressing..."
  • I would recommend posting your question to the Energia forum: forum.43oh.com/.../125-energia-tivaccc3xxx
  • And Matlab - to whom should that inquiry be addressed?

    MathWorks

The Matlab documentation has Getting Started with Serial I/O

  • Thanks for that - yet - should,  "All such external devices/methods - be serviced and/or guided - here?      Really?

Has this forum devolved into "dumping ground" for ALL "external Source links/findings?"

If not  actively discouraged - then it becomes (very much) a,  "tacit" YES!

If both,  "Accepted & Encouraged" - a name change to,  "TM4C  Microcontroller  +  ANY External Device/System - ALL Invited" - seems most appropriate...

  • Sorry sir we don't understood what you are trying to say . Is there something wrong in our way of asking a question? We asked that how to communicate MATLAB 15a with TIVA EK-TM4C123GXL . Please revert back its urgent .

  • Your questions regarding "energia" and "Matlab" should be addressed to those groups - not here.

Vendor experts here focus on the "TM4C MCUs" - forcing them away from their training, interest & focus - demands extra effort - thus reduces their time & energy available - to service those w/PROPER, TM4C-based issues.

I have advised - rather clearly - that you request assistance from your, "TWO - Non-TM4C groups!"      (i.e. directly from "energia & Matlab.")
Targeting the "REAL" energia & Matlab EXPERTS directly  (who do not reside here) - proves far better  - to guide you in your,  NON-TM4C issues!

And such "proper targeting" - enables vendor agents here - to deliver their "full, proper, highly valued guidance" - to the many, valid "TM4C-centric" issues - arriving daily...

  • MathWorks authored our Energia support package - please contact MathWorks Technical Support for assistance with this piece of software.

I will note that the Energia support we built is pretty basic; it was a side project done by one of our engineers that we decided to publish to the community because we thought others might want to use it. So it may not do exactly what you want. We provide the package as a free download, so feel free to examine the doc and add/edit the functionality you need.

    Cheers,

    -Brian

  • Thank you, Brian.    Yet - you must know that the TM4C support staff here - is mostly, (little - or only peripherally trained) in Mathworks.     Thus - does it make ANY sense for posters - as represented herein - to, Request "Mathworks" Guidance - most always - starting here?    (the TM4C forum)

Does this not point to, "Inadequate promotion/publication of your "support link" - as you've (just now) presented?       Many wind up here (almost "in lock-step") w/this particular poster - thus they appear to have little (often NO) knowledge of your - far more appropriate - support base & mechanisms.

As a long-term (outsider/user) of this forum (dating to LMI days) is it not correct to seek to,  "Assist the forum to maintain its HIGH - MCU Specific - STANDARDS" - and such results from High FOCUS upon the TM4C devices - and not  upon  (other's) entities & interests?

I must ask - would your support group "Welcome" many "TM4C requests" - arriving w/regularity?      That's inefficient at best - dulls resources - just wrong.      Don't you agree?

  • Hi cb1_mobile,

I don't follow any particular forum, but use RSS feeds to capture relevant terms from any E2E forum. Therefore, I don't know the best practices for any specific forum - but I agree persons posting to any forum should try to post in the spirit with that forum, and do searches on E2E for relevant info / threads that already exist. I also agree it is hard to provide generic "guidance" on E2E; but both TI and MathWorks provide this with copious amounts of documentation, and numerous examples.

It is my experience that TI customers using MathWorks products with TI devices almost always post in the TI forums first. I suspect that is because the TI E2E forums contain really excellent information and very well supported. And that's why I follow threads here, because E2E is where the customers are posting. I try, best I can, to help direct those customers to the best resources (which can be in E2E, or externally with MathWorks Tech Support).

In the future, please feel free to inform customers to contact MathWorks Technical Support when it is a MathWorks software issue.

    Cheers,
    -Brian
  • Thank you Brian - such is good to know.     Yet as the owner of a small, profit-seeking tech firm - it is (far) outside my role - to provide the "proper" promotion and publication - for Mathworks Support.

Does not that job - land (far better) in "your" camp?

You should note too - that a respected, "vendor agent" responded to this thread's originator - directing him to "energia" - but providing "No Direction" towards Mathworks!      Thus - it does appear that Mathworks must make improved efforts to "promote/publicize Mathworks' support" - does it not?       (especially as a skilled vendor agent - "Came up empty!"      That's most telling - is it not?)
