LAUNCHXL2-570LC43: BoosterPack header with CAN bus transceivers

Part Number: LAUNCHXL2-570LC43

I need actual CAN bus signal levels from the Hercules TMS570LC43x LaunchPad Development Kit.

Is there a BoosterPack header with CAN bus transceivers available?

I only need 1 can bus at a minimum, though 2 would be nice.

  • I am not with TI, but I think you would need a HDK to get that (not a LaunchXL2).
  • I'm aware that the HDK has the CAN transceivers built in.

We are running mass tests on the Hercules with CAN and we routinely  exhaust the flash write cycles, so we have to replace the boards.

The LAUNCHXL2-570LC43 is about 10% of the price of the HDK (29.99 vs 299.00) so it would be a big money saver if we could use the LAUNCH pad.

But we need a real CAN bus interface.

  • I pursued the same line of thinking with a RM46 Launchpad about a year ago. Obviously, you could use the Launchpad and HDK as a basis for a full custom board (which is what TI is likely to suggest that you do). The Launchpad might possibly be custom wired to expose the can lines and then mated, with clocking, to a transceiver on a CAN interface test jig.  It is not something I could say for sure would work.

  • Hi Mark,

The boosterpack header (J2) has 1 CAN (can4). The other CAN signals are on the dege connectors (J9 and J10). I am sorry that we don't have boostpack for the launchpad.
