TM4C123GH6PM: android app to control microcontroller tm4c123gh6pm

Part Number: TM4C123GH6PM

I am new to this tm4c123gh6pm microcontroller. I am going to do radio control car for my class project and I plan to use android app as the remote controller.

So the radio control android app will control the microcontroller via hc-05 wireless module.

However, I cannot find any source that can help me to create the remote controller android app to control my microcontroller.

Does anyone did this project before? Would you mind telling me how to create radio control app on android phone to control the tm4c123gh6pm.

Thank you in advance for your help

My friend - have you NOT placed,  "The CART" in FRONT of, "The Horse?"     Should you not - FOR SURE - determine that what you seek to do:

    • exists (has been done previously)
    • you can - someway/somehow - gain access to those (succeeding) methods

Is it  NOT TRUE - that should you be unable to locate a,  "Proper, Android APP" - your  "Project" may register as,  "ILL Chosen?"    It is best to CONFIRM CAPABILITY FIRST - ONLY THEN TO DECLARE "PROJECT."    (thus the "Cart before Horse" analogy...)

May I note too - that as you are NEW to this MCU - adding the,  "Time, Cost, and Effort BURDEN"  imposed by the "Android APP" - may prove unwise?

Unless this thread produces, "Solid and Quick Response" - I believe that the, "Elimination of the Android portion" - would prove,  "In your best interest!"

Attempting, "TOO MUCH" - especially when,  "TOO SOON" - is a common mistake (often FATAL) and a clear violation of  "KISS" - which dictates "Simplicity - and High, Tightly Limited, Project Focus!"

You may employ the "Forum Search Box" (atop this page) Keyword "Android" - to see if  ANY  Success (as you seek) has been recorded...

  • Hello Andy,

I have doubts TM4C is a good fit for what you want to do.

That is not something we have done before. While some groups in TI develop apps for their products like connectivity products, on the TM4C side that is far from our typical use case and it is not something we have ever touched or are planning to look into. To put it bluntly, TI is not able to offer any support for Android applications for TM4C.

As cb1 mentioned, you may want to try searching the E2E forums to see if any other community members have done something akin to what you want, but I personally haven't seen anyone from the community come up with an Android app for any TM4C.

I'll also add in that we don't have any example code for the HC-05 from TI. It looks like there were a few older forum posts where users posted some code they were trying to get work so that may be useful, but this is another area where you'd need to put forth a lot of effort.

Due to these missing pieces, and since we cannot offer much help to you regarding them, you may want to consider other options for your class project.
  • Hi cb1_mobile,

The reason I am asking for suggestion here is because I had seen videos on youtube that people actually manage to build RC car using tm4c microcontroller and use android phone as the remote. So, I thought that such program should be available and perhaps some people on this forums might know about it.
But, thank you for your advice.
  • Hi Ralph,

I will keep searching and if things really does not work out, then i will resolve with other project.
Though i really hope that i can manage to get this project to work.
    Thank you for your advice.
  • Greetings,

Clearly - both vendor's Ralph - and I - hope you succeed.     We came - independently - to an identical conclusion - which may lend it - (some) substance.

Is it assured that, 'Videos on youtube' prove entirely truthful - and do not,  'Over-Promote?'     (It has been noted that the 'Brooklyn Bridge' (from my hometown) is also 'For Sale' - on youtube...)

Does it not 'Register as Strange' - that a 'youtuber' would 'Promote there' - while NEVER/EVER presenting their success HERE?       (which is sure to generate MORE  ... 'Vists to their channel!')

  • Hi cb1_mobile,

Well, what you say is true. I understand that we should be more skeptical about things we see online.
Maybe I should be more clear about my purpose of doing this RC car using microcontroller.
This is a school project for my microcontroller class.
If you assumed that I am actually run a full scale operation to do this project using tiva tm4c123gh5pm microcontroller, then I apologize.
I hope I clear your misunderstanding of what I actually try to accomplished.
  • My friend - I made, 'No such assumption.'     (Really - why would I - to what purpose?)    BTW - it appears that you 'forgot' - that your opening post included, "CLASS PROJECT!"    (those who attend law-school - note such facts...)

Note that Vendor's Ralph - and I - independently determined - then advised  that your, "Addition of the Android Accommodation" - would most likely - harpoon your Project.      Matters not if a 'school project' or a commercial one...

Both Ralph's and my intent - was to, 'Alert you Early' - to the likely (severe) challenge - you had invited...
