ADS127L01EVM Interface and driver problem?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS127L01EVM

Hi everyone,

I have some interface problems with ADS127L01EVM then I run LM Flash programer but I can't find USB DFU interface?
What should I do now?
Thanks you!

  • Hi,

Go to the executable file LMFlash.exe and try below and see if it works in.

    Right Click - > Properties

    Compatibility -> Check Compatibility Mode

    Select Windows 7, Hit Ok.

Launch Program (Or simply plug into USB if no firmware is loaded)

DFU should now be an option

  • Hi Charles,
Nothing change Charles, and I use Windows 10 is it problem?
  • Hi,
My colleague will be assisting you on this. In the meantime, can you try with a Win7 machine. If you uninstall the current LM and reinstall in compatibility mode will it make a difference?
  • Hello Linh,

I looked into this further, I second Charles' idea of doing the installation with compatibility mode. I would also recommend after uninstalling to restart the PC first and then only after the restart, try to install with compatibility mode.

Another option would be to run the program with Administrator privileges.

Overall this looks to be Windows related, as from the device manager screenshot there seems to be no issue with the DFU option showing up.

Furthermore, the USB DFU option should appear even if the device is not attached to your PC. It just won't be able to find a device.

Unfortunately, I am on Windows 10 myself and haven't had any issues or have been able to re-create the issue, and many other customers use Win 10 and have not reported such an issue, so I hope one of the above ideas resolves this.
  • Hi Ralph,
Unfortunately, nothing change even I try on Windows 7 PC I can't find USB DFU. Can you give me other links for LM Programmer download?
    Thank you!
  • It does look like I have same problems with guy in this topic,
    e2e.ti.com/.../2423953
This is his solution but I don't really understand:

"I just describe it below for the sake it may help someone else in future :

    1. I've activated the LM Flash Programmer on my PC first , and saw there's no USB option as an interface in the Configuration screen

    2. I've powered-up my target board, and initiated the UPDATE SW option over USB , which actually means accessing and activating the USB TivaWare driver from the Target side.

    3. Once connecting the USB port to my PC , after the USB port activity was detected, suddenly the USB option in the LM Configuration screen showed up - out from nowhere :-) ..

    4. Verifying it is not a bizarre coincidence, I disconnected the USB cable from the PC port, reboot the PC and restarted LM Flash Programmer - and guess what? - Now the USB DFU option is there, with no need to connect or activate anything which is out of the PC ....

    5. Seems as kind of discovery operation need to take place at least once by the LM USB DFU driver, looking for the TivaWare side of the USB driver, before it allows it be presented as a valid interface on LM configuration screen.....Don't ask me why .... "

can you explain to me? What do step 2 & 3 mean?
    Thanks you
  • I have tried on other PC but USB DFU didn't appear all :( Help me

  • Hello Linh,

Wow, I spent a lot of time trying to find that post because I remembered having dealt with something similar before... thank you for unearthing it. I am going to test how restart affects the LM Flash GUI on Win10 and then I will get back to you about recommended next steps and explanation of 2 & 3.
  • Hello Linh,

Unfortunately I was not able to re-create the exact situation, I think probably because I have all of our TM4C devices setup correctly in my system for support purposes so I cannot match the situation fully.

Let me try and address your questions about points 2 and 3 and perhaps that may arm you with sufficient knowledge to solve this on your end.

In this case, I think 'target board' meant his custom TM4C board as we don't ship an eval kit with that particular GPN. What he meant by the rest was updating his USB drivers with TivaWare drivers from: http://software-dl.ti.com/tiva-c/SW-TM4C/latest/exports/SW-TM4C-2.1.4.178.PATCH-1.0.zip

I think this one is more straight forward - when he connected the USB to his Win 10 machine, it detected the USB correctly, and then LM Flash for him updated to show the USB DFU option.

That method likely would need the TM4C to be acting as either USB host or device so that a USB port would enumerate for a driver to be installed. I am not sure if that EVM is setup to support that. It would be good to understand what USB capability is included as part of the EVM.

  • Hi Ralph,

I have tried installed LM programer on many other PCs but I still can't find USB DFU. Therefore, I think problems are LM programer setup or drive. Can you give me other links for LM programer download? And maybe I will record a video about the step I connect module to PC then you can give me some advices

  • Hello Linh,

The LMFlash Programmer has not had issues for 100's of other users so I highly doubt that is the root cause. Given that data point now that you cannot get USB DFU to work on other PCs with that EVM, I suspect the EVM is the issue. I have no familiarity with it though, so that leaves me in a tough spot.

Do you have any TM4C LaunchPad's available to you?
  • Hi Ralph,

But, I think USB DFU interface is an option then It must be appear even I don't plug USB cable right? But I installed LM programmer on many other PC with Windows 7 and 10 but USB option still didn't appear ( I didn't connect module to PC, just installed LM programmer on others PC) any idea? I just buy this module within 20 days and this is the first time I use this EVM.

  • Hello Linh,

From the thread previously linked by you, it is very clear that the USB DFU option may not appear until the Windows USB interface has detected the correct port. The EVM you have is the only hardware which has exhibited this problem to the extent it cannot be resolved based on our knowledge, so what should I logically suspect? A known piece of software that has been long proven or an EVM I have no knowledge of?

From our end on the TM4C side, it is not possible to further support this issue unless you can replicate this behavior with a TI LaunchPad where we have detailed knowledge of the hardware and what expected behavior is.
  • Hi Ralph,
I don't know why but everything is working now. I install driver and LM programmer on Windows 8 and reconnect on Windows 10 and it works!!!, it is a magical :))

Thanks you very much for your support!
