does the TMS570LS1224 support ETM Trace and which tools are needed to record traces?

Hello Jens,

TMS570LS1224 does not support a ETM trace port. You can use TMS570LS3137 to trace the application via the ETM trace port. Please note that LS3137 does not include all IPs available on the LS1224, so you have to be careful/aware of that to avoid seeing unexpected aborts.

An application note explains the differences between the LS3137 and the LS1227 (superset) microcontrollers. You can find it here:

As for trace analysis tools, you can consider XDS560 v2 ProTrace Receiver and Debug Probe. See www.ti.com/.../TMDSEMUPROTRACE.

There is also a trace analysis tool from Lauterbach that support the TMS570LS31xx MCUs.
