TMS570LC4357: Power loss problem

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

Hello,

I have an issue with my tms570. I know that something is burnt but I wonder if I can do something to reuse it somehow.

I see that there is no voltage on those 3 LEDs but I don't know why. And I would like to know if I can do something about it or the MCU won't work anyway and it can't be used anymore.

Thanks.

Regards,

Ciprian.

  • Hello,
You can download schematic diagram from here: www.ti.com/.../tmdx570lc43hdk .
Probably U37 (+5V voltage regulator) is not working. First make visual inspection of U37 and around it. May be the problem is visible. If not:

    1. Check whether you input voltage is 12V;

    2. Check voltage on C163. If you don't have 12V on it L8 is blown (you have 12V before L8, because DS5 is ON).
    3. Check voltage on C165 or C164. If you don't have 5V then U37 is not working.
    4. If voltage on C165 or C164 is 5V then measure voltage on C166 or TP12. If you don't measure 5V then probably L10 is out of order.

You can replace problematic component when you identify it.

    Best regards,
    Miro

  • Thank you very much. C165 and C166 are probably burnt cause there's no voltage on them.
I will replace them. Maybe you can suggest where I can find replacement parts like this for ordering.

    Ciprian.
  • Hi Ciprian,
If you have 12V on C163 and you don't measure 5V on C165, the problem seems to be in U37 NOT in C165 or C166. You can try to replace U37... or you can download the datasheet of U37 (TPS54350PWP) and make deeper investigations - may be over-current protection of power chip is enabled (if some other component that is connected to 5V, like U39 is damaged) and so on...

    Best regards,
    Miro
