IEC61508 Certification Question

We are considering using the TMS570 in an avionics application. To achieve certification it would greatly assist us to have access to the Exida IEC61508 SIL 3 certification evidence. I believe I read in some support documentation that a non disclosure agreement is required for this.

Please advise what is required and who I should contact to proceed with this request.

Please contact your local Texas Instruments Field Sales Office in order to obtain a Non-Disclosure Agreement. After this is signed and in place we can provide the TMS570 saftey documents including the Exida SIL3 certificate.

Since TMS570 can be used in Safety critical system and it has been certified by Exida.

Which IDE (Compiler/Linker) is certified to be used on this processor? Has anyone used CCS with this processor and got SIL-3 certification from TUV or Exida?

Hello,

The TMS570LS20216S MCU has been assessed suitable for use in SIL 3 systems by exida as a hardware component. Tools certification was not in the scope of the assessment activity.

The TI CGT (code generation tools) and CCS debugger are not explicitly designed for compliance to any functional safety standard. To comply to most safety standards, it is not necessary for the tool to be developed explicitly to the standard. The overall tool flow implemented by the developer is more important then the individual tools. That being said, we can provide additional information regarding our tool development flows, requirements definition, validation, language compliance, etc to give our customers more assistance in developing their software development safety plans. While we cannot disclose in detail activities of our customers, TI's CGT and CCS have been used in major automotive safety systems for over a decade. Multiple customers are currently using TI tools in their designs for IEC 61508 SIL2/SIL3 and ISO 26262 ASIL-B, -C, and -D.
