TMS570LS1114: TMS570LS1114 and ETM/ETB support

Part Number: TMS570LS1114
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS3137

Hi

I am a little confused about wtherther  ETM (Embedded trace Microcell) and/or  ETB (Embedded trace Buffer) are supported by TMS570LS1114.

The MCU is based on a Cortex-R4F processor and according to "Cortex™-R4 and Cortex-R4F Revision: r1p4 Technical Reference Manual"  The Cortex-R4 processor implements the ETM v3.3 architecture profile.

In the CoreSight ETM-R4 Technical Reference Manual both ETM and ETB interfaces are shown.

Looking at the datasheet for TMS570LS1114 ETM is not mentioned, and there is no pin description for the Trace interface. I therefore suspect  that the Trace interface is not supported, but I am however still in doubt whether trace data from ETM can be obtained via ETB?

Best Regards

  • Hi Hans,

The TMS570LS1114 does not include support for embedded trace. You can use TMS570LS3137 to emulate an application running on TMS570LS1114. LS3137 does include an ETM interface. You need to be careful in that LS1114 has some additional IPs that are not available on LS3137, so if your application only uses those IPs that are common to both these MCUs, then you can use LS3137 to trace the application running on LS11x/LS12x.

    Regards,
