TMS570LC4357: N2HET deactivation

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

Hello,

We would like to have more information about N2HET.

As described in the Referendce manual (Figure 23-1.) the N2HET modules can be turn off via the TO bit in the HETGCR register.

But does it mean that all the module is in 'reset state'  (GIO functionality included) ?

Is there a means to deactivate the GIO functionality of the N2HET module at the same time the N2HET 'core' of the N2HET module?

Compared to some other modules, It seems that no choice can be done between N2HET functionality and GIO functionality for N2HET pins.

Best regards,

Christopher

  • Hello Christopher,

TO bit is to stop the NHET timer. It doesn't affect the GIO functionality. The NHET pins can be used as either GIO or NHET. The GIO functionally can not be turned off.
  • Hello,

You said that GIO functionality of N2HET module can not be turned off.

In the same way of some other sub-module including also the GIO functionality, is it possible to put the N2HET pins in N2HET functionality rather GIO functionality in order to cut-off the GIO functionality ?

Or is there to shut-off the N2HET by another means that TO bit to stop globally the NHET ?

Is the HETPINDIS, the good register to disable the N2HET pins ?
    E.g :
    - Pin disabled if HETPINDIS at 0x00 + HETDIR at 0x00
    - Output buffer disabled (Hi-Z) if HETPINDIS at 0x01 and (nDIS at 0x00 or HETDIR at 0x00 or HET Pin ENA at 0x00)

    Best regards,
    Christopher

  • Hi Christopher,

You can enable/disable the output buffer of the NHET pins using pin nDIS plus HETPINDIS register and HETDIR register. You can use TO to disable the timer, but it doesn't affect the GIO functionality.
