LAUNCHXL2-570LC43: How to power on the board without using the USB connector

Part Number: LAUNCHXL2-570LC43

Hello everyone,

I would like to know if the LAUNCHXL2-570LC43 can be powered on using a Vin pin instead of micro USB connector.

Best Regards,

Andrea Pisculli

  • Hello Andrea,
You could power LAUNCHXL2-570LC43 using barrel connector (J17). This connector is not populated on board. That is why you should mount it! It is very important to remove (disconnect/discontinue) the solder bridge of JP6 (JP6 is not mounted but solder bridge is shortening it) before power the board from barrel jack. It is better to mount SMD jumper when solder bridge is removed. In this way it will be very easy to power the board from USB again (just put jumper cap on JP6). You could power the board also from any connector pin that is wired with label "+5V". To do this same needs to be done with JP6 (removing solder bridge). The barrel connector is proffered because it is protected (PTC1 on schematic).

All this could be seen at schematic diagram: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../LAUNCHXL2_570LC43_RM57L_SCHEMATICS.pdf

    Best regards,
    Miro
