TMS570LC4357: TMS570LC4357

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

I have question(s) about the TMS570LC4357 and its use of JTAG, via the XDS200:

[Q1] What is the minimum required JTAG Signals for debugging and programming the MCU?

[Q2] Can we get away without using the RTCK JTAG signal? If so, how do we handle that RTCK on the MCU side and XDS200 side? Or is RTCK 100% required?

[Q3] In the buffered JTAG signal case, will a simple OR-gate ic work (like a 74LVC1G32)?

[Q4] Using the buffered JTAG signals, what is the max length (in) between the Target MCU (TMS570…) and the XDS200 20-pin connector we can have.

[Q5] If power is not present on the Target, can the XDS200 provide power to the target MCU to allow JTAG programming of the flash program memory?

Thanks,

R. Wright

  • Hello Ronnie,
    1. You will need the following signals:
    - TDI, TDO , TCK, TMS, nTRST (nTRST signal is optional but you should test it with your probe. Reset could be done by TCK and TMS);
    2. Yes, you can work without RTCK signal. On MCU side you should left pin unconnected or connect it to GND vua resistor.
    3, 4. Please, take a look at: www.ti.com/.../spru655i.pdf .
    5. Target device needs to be powered in order to be programmed.

    Best regards,
