TMS570LC4357: Version 2.1 compatible with FlexRay Transceiver Version 3.0.1?

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

Dear support,

I am wondering if the TMS570LC4357 having supporting and implementing a FlexRay controller version 2.1 can be connected to an NXP TJA1081G FlexRay transceiver version 3.0.1? I saw some schematics from TI using TJA1080 and TJA1082 (for example in the HDK-FlexRay-Can-Lin-Interface): both FlexRay transceiver are however 2.1A and 2.1B versions of FlexRay.

Thank you in advance for your answer

Best regards

Vincent

  • Hello Vincent,

The TMS570 flexray module conforms with Flexray protocol specification 2.1 revA. If the flexray transceiver supports flexray electrical physical layer spec V2.1 RevA, you can use it without any problem.

  • Hello QJ,

thank you for your quick answer. Actually, it does not solve my question. What I am trying to find out is, if a FLexRay transceiver supporting a superior version (in this case 3.0.1) can be connected to the TI FlexRay controller of the TMS570 supporting only version 2.1 revA ?

I know that FlexRay nodes 3.0.1 can communicate with nodes version 2.1: this backward compatibility is given. However, I was not able to find out if a FlexRay controller can communicate with a FlexRay transceiver having a higher version number. Can you help with this question?

    Many thanks

    Best regards

    Vincent
  • Hello Vincent,

I don't know whether the transceiver is fully back compatible or not. You can get more helpful information from the flexray transceiver vendor.
  • Thanks a lot for your answer. Unfortunately, they seem also not to know :-)

I will wait and hope for a clear answer from them.

    Best regards

    Vincent
