TMS570LC4357: Information on support of Zero padding in EMAC

The EMAC peripheral conforms to the IEEE 802.3 standard. IEEE 802.3 defines the minimum frame length as 64 bytes. Every frame less than 64 bytes should be padded with 0 before transmitted on the Ethernet link. Padding to a minimum of 64 bytes/frame is a mandatory part of IEEE 802.3.

Yes, does HW supports zero padding if user sends data less than 64 bytes?

Hi Wang,

We tried to send packets of size less than 64 and not seeing packets captured in wireshark.
But, when we increase the packet size to 64, we are able to see the same.
Can you please check and tell us on how to enable HW support for zero padding feature.

From the document (spnu563a.pdf), could see that it is supported for pause frames.

Hi Wang,

Looks like EMAC doesn't support Zero padding at HW level by default and based on register contents available in spnu563a.pdf, we don't see any option on enabling it. We would like to get concurrence from you on this. If it is supported at HW level (EMAC HW), please let us know how to achieve this.
