TM4C123GH6PM: MINI - M4 board and TIVA C Series Launchpad

Part Number: TM4C123GH6PM

I recently purchased a MINI M4 board equipped  with a TM4C123gH6PM microcontroller, however I didn't realize that it only comes equipped with a bootloader, and from what I've read is not compatible with CCS. I have also been reading through the forums, that some people have had success integrating their launchpads with the MIMI M4 board to make use of JTAG, and debugging capabilities?

If someone could help explain that to me, or point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

  • Hello Jorge,

I looked into this board a little bit. It looks like the lack of JTAG is a limitation of that design. As it's a third party product, we aren't really in position to support it much, however I can give you some general advice.

In order to use the LaunchPad as a JTAG programmer, the general idea is putting a header for the JTAG pins (TCK, TMS, TDO, TDI, and RESET) and then making those connections on another board. It does sounds like you will have those pins available on your MINI-M4 board as well: www.digikey.be/.../50331

You would also need to remove the MCU from the LaunchPad so it doesn't see two JTAG devices, so you'd be committing to using that LaunchPad as only a programmer.

I would personally recommend at that point to just stick with the LaunchPad as I don't see much benefit you'd gain from the MINI-M4 board, but that's up to you.
  • Hello Jorge,

Can you elaborate about what portion of my prior post did not meet your support needs?
