CCS/TMS570LS0714: Device Identification Register (DEVID)

Part Number: TMS570LS0714
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS1224, TMS570LS1227

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I am using two TMS570 family processors, TMS570LS0714 and TMS570LS1224. When i read DEVID register i read below values

TMS570LS0714 - 0x8052AD05

TMS570LS1224 - 0x8046AD1D

According to bit field description of DEVID register i am intrested in understanding of field UNIQUE ID and how it is determined.

Can you please explain in detail how i can use DEVID register to differentiate between two processors in our products

Thanks

Suresh J

  • Hello Suresh,
UNIQUE ID represents different device configurations. This ID is not unique for each unit. For TMS570LS1224, more on Device Identification Register could be found in Chapter 8.6 of device Datasheet.
If you need ID that is unique for every single unit, DIEIDL and DIEIDH registers are holding this number.

    Best regards,
    Miro

  • Hi Miro,

Thank you for the reply. I wan to just differentiate between TMS570LS1224 and TMS570LS0714 in our products not every single unit.

The device identification code register identifies several aspects of the device including the silicon version.
The details of the device identification code register are shown in Table 8-1. The device identification code
register value for this device is:
    • Rev A = 0x8046AD05
    • Rev B = 0x8046AD15
    • Rev C = 0x8046AD1D

and table 8.1 defines UNIQUE ID as 100011.

I just wanted to confirm from you guys that any unit of processor TMS570LS1224 will have same UNIQUE ID as 100011.

it will be helpful if you can confirm my logic is correct of using UNIQUE ID as identifier to know if the product is using processor TMS570LS1224.

    Thanks

    Suresh J

  • Hi Suresh,

Yes, you can use the Unique Id programmed in the device id register to distinguish between different series of parts in the TMS570 family, e.g. between TMS570LS12x and TMS570LS07x. Note that all TMS570LS12x parts will have the same Unique Id, e.g. TMS570LS1227 has the same unique id as TMS570LS1224.

    Regards,
    Sunil
  • Thanks Sunil, that will work for me now.
