TMS570LC4357: Pin compatibility of MCUs out of the Hercules MCU family (TMS, RM).

Part Number: TMS570LC4357
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RM57L843, RM46L852, RM46L850, RM44L520, RM44L920

I have questions regarding pin compatibility (equal signals on pins) of MCUs out of the Hercules MCU family:

Regarding R5:

1. Is there further difference between the pins of the TMS570LC4357 and the RM57L843 besides the FRAY[…] signals?

2. The TMS570LC4357 uses big-endian format and the RM57L843 little-endian. Are there further differences ? Is there a document available describing the differences?

Regarding the R4:

3. Are the MCU out of the an RM46x family (RM44L520, RM44L920, RM46L850, RM46L852) pin compatible?

Thank you very much!

  • Hello,
    - TMS570LC4357 and RM57L843 are pin compatible ( FlexRay balls are reserved on RM57L843 );
    - Operating frequency is different for two devices. RM57L843 does not support FlexRay. Operating temperature of two devices is different (RM57 is not automotive qualified). Also power consumption is different.
    - They are pin compatible but some of them are super sets. That is why if you need to direct exchange some MCU with another you should consider this in your design.

    Best regards,
    Miro
