RM46L852: EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY

Part Number: RM46L852

Hello!

Quick question.

My application requires for Hercules to operate on battery.
Can you tell me where are the pins for +5V and GND for external power supply?

Also, what will happen if I do not remove the jumper that allows it to be powered via USB? Is it possible to leave that jumper on so I can flash new code while controller is being powered by external power supply or do I need to take the controller of source, then displace the jumper again, flash new code, and return the controller the way it was?

Thanks!
Marc

  • Hello Marc,
I assume you are using RM46 Launchpad.
Barrel Jack J14 is for powering device from external power supply. You must populate it. It is better to remove jumper cap from JP6. U9 has Reverse
Output Voltage Protection but it is better to isolate its output. You could use any pin at connectors that has label "+5V" (for example J10.1) for powering the board as well (again jumper cap on JP6 should be removed).
You could flash the board with board powered from external power supply and with JP6 jumper cap removed.

    Best regards,
    Miro
