CC430F5137: Can the 26 MHz RF crystal be used for other UCS clocks also?

Part Number: CC430F5137

Hi experts,

We have an existing hardware platform based upon the CC430F5137. I have fairly recently joined the team as a FW developer, and I am looking at optimizing the clock configuration.

At the moment we have a 26 MHz crystal connected to the XT2 oscillator for the RF module. It seems that I can also route this 26 MHz clock (XT2CLK) as the source to the other system clocks, i.e. ACLK, MCLK and SMCLK.

We are currently using the internal 32768 Hz clock for ACLK, MCLK and SMCLK, but I would rather use the more accurate 26 MHz clock to generate these clocks.

I know the maximum system clock for MCLK is 20 MHz, but I guess I can just use the internal clock dividers to reduce the 26 MHz clock to something below this?

Is it as simple as this, or am I missing some other limitations, which would make this a bad idea?

Thanks in advance!
