TMS570LC4357: Address&Data Pin swapping in EMIF

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

Dear All,

In our new design we are using external SDRAM, SRAM and NOR Flash on the EMIF.

During layout phase we noticed the address, data and control pins are spread over 337 pin BGA very untidy and we would like to swap address and data pins inside each own groups.

Could it be possible? If yes is there anything to pay special attention?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

  • Hello,
TMS570LC4357 does not support EMIF pin swapping.

    Best regards,
    MIro
  • Dear MIro,

thank you for prompt reply but i meant pin swapping on the memory side.
I know DDR3 has support pin swapping within byte lane what about SRAM&SDRAM&NOR Flash?

If you need i can send my Hercules schematic and corresponding layout ratnets.

    Regards
  • Hello,
When using SRAM, swapping both address and data lines within byte lanes should not be a problem.
Regarding SDRAM and NOR Flash, data lines within byte lanes should not be a problem. Address lines may be a problem due to sending commands and writing to registers. I'll forward this question to our EMIF expert for confirming this.

    Best regards,
    Miro
  • Dear Miro;

Thank you very much, i will wait the confirmation of EMIF expert, you are great.
Last thing could you pls share relevant links, app notes, etc. with me and most of the layout engineer having the same problem in minds

    Again, thanks a lot.
