EK-TM4C123GXL: Only two 'In-circuit Debug Interface' were shown under the Other Device option, normally it should be three?

Part Number: EK-TM4C123GXL

Hello all,

I found some difficulty when installing Ti device driver. (EK-TM4C123GXL)

When i plug in the board for the first time only two 'In-circuit Debug Interface' were shown under the Other Device option as problem figure 1 shows.

However, based on the installation instruction, there should be three  'In-circuit Debug Interface' were shown under the Other Device option as problem figure 2 shows.

I followed Instruction to install the driver,  i got 'Stellaris ICDI IFU Device' and 'Stellaris ICDI JTAG/SWD Interface' installed successfully, but 'Stellaris Virtual Serial Plot' was missing.

One 'In-circuit Debug Interface' was missing, which caused the failure to install the driver.

Here is the Driver Installation Instruction link: http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/spmu287c/spmu287c.pdf

Here is one experience installing on windows 10: https://edx-org-utaustinx.s3.amazonaws.com/UT601x/InstallDrivers10new.htm

i tried on two laptops, both of them only showed two 'In-circuit Debug Interface' . I'm not sure where the problem is. Could someone please help me out?

Thank you for your time

Regards

  • The reason you only saw two unknown interfaces is because the third one installed on Windows 10 correctly. It is the "Stellaris Virtual Serial Port" that is under "Ports". After you installed the driver you got the other two, 'Stellaris ICDI IFU Device' and 'Stellaris ICDI JTAG/SWD Interface'. Now you have all three.
  • Dear Bob

Firstly, thank you for trying to help.

i just installed the other two, i did get 'Stellaris ICDI IFU Device' and 'Stellaris ICDI JTAG/SWD Interface'. However, they shows a yellow exclamation mark as following picture:

However, based on the installation instruction. the correct installation should has no yellow exclamation mark and the icon for  'Stellaris Virtual Serial Plot (COM3)'  is different.

    the correct installation shows below:

Could you please let me know where is the problem could be? and why there are yellow exclamation mark on them. i did followed installation instruction.

    Thank you for your time

  • Hello Zhenyue,

That is just an icon change on Windows 10 and those drivers are fully installed and do not have an error. The Guide was not made w/ images from a Win 10 PC, but in Win 10 the new updated icon shows the device looking like a PCI-E card and the yellow is the PCI connector, not an exclamation mark :). Hope that helps!
