Hi Team,
My customer has a question regarding the clock frequency for the TMS570LS1114:
we are currently testing the clock spreading on the TMS570LS1114 and TMS570LS0332. Both controllers use the QFA package with legs. TMS570LS1114_PGE The maximum clock frequency is specified at 160 MHz. We have used the clock spreading currently with center spreading to averaged to get a comparable timing behavior, operate the microcontroller between 160.160000 MHz and 159.840000 MHz. According to the data sheet that is out of specification because we are above the 160 MHz. Is that problematic, the core in the BGA housing 180 MHz because the heat dissipation through the housing design is better? We do not use all sub-systems because of their design (for example, no Ethernet, USB, ...). Can we get a problem with signal delays, we only slightly overclock? TMS570LS0332_PZ The maximum clock frequency is specified as 80 MHz. We have used the clock spreading currently with center spreading to averaged to get a comparable timing behavior, operate the microcontroller between 80.160.000 MHz and 79.840.000 MHz. According to the data sheet that is out of specification because we are above the 80 MHz. Is that problematic, we do not have all the sub-systems in use, do not use all the features. Also, the heat development, this should be linear with the frequency, not change, the average clock frequency remains averaged equal. Can we get a problem with signal delays, we only slightly overclock? Is this mode so OK for both safety microcontrollers?

Mihir
