Hello and thank you for looking into my request. I started a project a few years ago with a PCB manufacturer on a keyboard and i finally have the fire to get the project completed! My programming skills are somewhat limited but I have completed some work in Qt with c++ and I am a devoted learner so I am determined to finalize this project if my prototype PCB is possible. Here is my situation.

I had an idea on a computer keyboard design and layout which i set up the parts list and worked with a few developers to come up with a first prototype. I am using a TM4C123GH6PMT hopefully driving a TLC5958 (first prototype and no contact with same developer at this time) to provide RGB LED on my keyboard. I am looking for a quick tip on where to start programming and debugging as i am excited to finally bring this project to fruition! I have some limited coding experience but am an avid learner and have completed a few projects in c++ and Qt. Also an expert Googler. Thank you for your support, it is beyond appreciated.

OK, do you have any development tools such as the EK-TM4C123GXL launchpad and a copy of Code Composer Studio? You will also want to download the TivaWare library. Does your board have a place to connect JTAG signals? Do you have a JTAG scan controller? If not, there is a simple one built into the EK-TM4C123GXL.

I do not have a EK-TM4C123GXL, I was hoping to be able to program over USB. The board has a place to connect JTAG signals although I do not have a scan controller. So it looks like I may need to purchase a launchpad...

Yes, you need to at least get a launchpad. You can bootload over USB, but if the program you program into the device has a working mechanism for returning to that ROM bootloader, you won't be able to erase and reprogram. Also, you want the debug capabilities of examining internal registers and running to breakpoints that using an emulator will give you.

I have one on order and on the way. once I receive it my next question is a bit of where do I begin? I assume I am trying to assure USB communication, then from there sending my key binds, then drive the LEDs. I apologize for the questions on such a large task but any help is greatly appreciated

While waiting for your EK-TM4C123GXL launchpad, you can download Code Composer Studio and the TivaWare library. There is some training material which is a bit out of date, but still helpful here:

There are examples in TivaWare to do USB device serial port, USB device Air Mouse and USB host keyboard. Here is an old thread about creating a USB keyboard device:
