CCS/TMS570LS1224: Problem with TMS570LS12

Part Number: TMS570LS1224

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi all.
Well, I write in this forum because of a problem that I have had with my device.
My device is a Hercules TMS570LS12. I have used it three month ago with CCS. However one day, I did want to connect my device to my computer, but it didn't  recognize it.
Moreover, just LED 6 is lit up with low intensity and exists a continous beep sound coming from my microcontroller.
I don't know why happened this.
I would be grateful if anyone knows any way to repair it.

Thanks and good day.

  • Hello,
LED6 is indicator for 5V presence. I am not sure what do you mean by "continuous beep sound" but I think this noise is coming from voltage regulator U5. This could be a sign that voltage regulator itself is damaged but it could be overloaded be other component.
There is no straight answer what you need to replace or check. If you want to debug the board then you have to isolate components or parts of the board one by one. For example you can start with removing JP6 and check whether +5V are available at pin 1 of JP6.

    Best regards,
    Miro
  • Thank you for your response Miroslav.
About continuous beep sound, I don't know what is the reason but when my microcontroller worked well, it didn't do that sound.
Well, I think it's reasonable to check each component separately.
    Good day and thanks again.
