TM4C1294KCPDT: EOS issue on Ethernet interface

Part Number: TM4C1294KCPDT

Hi champs,

My Customer is facing a recurrent EOS issue on the TM4C1294KCPDTI3 Ethernet interface (Ethernet pins damaged) - device being powered through PoE on the design.

Could the corresponding design schematics and layout be reviewed in order to provide any feedback on the design and possible additional protection to be added or modified? Design files could be provided in MP

Thank you!

Best regards,

Guillaume

  • Hi,
I will suggest the customer to start with the TM4C129 system design guideline, particularly starting at section 4. www.ti.com/.../spma056.pdf. Section 4 provides guidelines on Ethernet PCB layout and schematic. What I can do is to compare the customer's schematic against the system design guidelines which the customer can do it as well. Things to check will be if the ESD protection diodes are in the schematic as strongly recommended by the guideline and the placement of the diodes.
  • Hi Guillaume,
What is the status on your customer's side? I hope you customer can reference the system design guideline. That will be the first thing I will do by comparing the customer's schematic against the system design guideline and find out if they can spot any obvious discrepancy. I will close the thread for now. If you have some updates you can just reply back to this thread.
