TMS570LS3137: ePWM , ecap , eQep numbers in TQFP package

Part Number: TMS570LS3137
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LC4357, TMS570LS1227

Hi everybody ,

I woudl like to use PGE  version  ( TQFP )  .

I can see NHET  are there in TQFP with 40 ch  adn I need to generate good PWMs

now if I look  in data manual  http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tms570ls3137.pdf    table 3.1 on page  9/175     I can see  epam, ecap eqep in  BGA version mentioned

but not fro the TQFP  : Why ?

coudl you confirm me max numbers in tTQFP package  on superset 3137 ?

regards

Carlo

  • Hello,

According to Table 3-1 from device datasheet you mentioned neither TMS570LS3137ZWT nor TMS570LS3137PGE got ePWM, eCAP and eQEP modules.

    Best regards,

    Miro

  • HI MIro ,
in Hercules you use NHET to generate PWMs etc ... now if you look blcok diagram I cannot see PWMs module only NHET .
that 's why my question .
in TQFP package you have NHET ( as in BGA ) : how many pwms you can get ? why in the BGA numbers are mentioned ?
    regards
    Carlo
  • Hello,
Here is a good explanation from QJ: e2e.ti.com/.../689310

    Best regards,

  • HI MIro ,
to close this , what are the ePWMs mentioned in BGA package ? are they on top of NHET ? I cannot find it in the manual
    regards
    Carlo
  • Hello Carlo,
There are no ePWM modules on both BGA and QFP packages for TMS570LS3137.

In Table 3-1 TMS570LC4357 and TMS570LS1227 which has ePWM module are shown as well. ePWM is separate module, independent from N2HET. The enhanced pulse width modulator (ePWM) peripheral module represents one complete PWM channel composed of two PWM outputs: EPWMxA and EPWMxB. The ePWM module can generate complex pulse width waveforms with minimal CPU overhead or intervention. The ePWM supports both high-side and low-side PWM and deadband generation. ePWM has integrated trip zone protection and synchronization with the on-chip MibADC. ePWM module is ideal for digital motor control applications.

    Best regards,
    Miro
