CC430F5137: software FEC

Hello Team,

The AXM0F243-1-TX40 from ON Semi has an integrated FEC. The CC430F5137’s FEC is software-based. Could you please advise on the impact of the FEC on the code execution? How much processing power will it take from the main software?

And does it have any impact on the latency of the link?

Hello Dmitry,

Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with this device or FEC, but I'll try to help. The only resource that I could find was this design note on FEC Decoding. Perhaps you could reference the code in this design note and use GPIOs inside the routines to estimate the required bandwidth.

Hi Dmitry,

I would recommend that you rather look at our newer CC13xx devices. These have FEC implemented in HW, as well as being generally much more capable devices.
