Hercules Launchpad compatible with ADC EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC128S102EVM, LAUNCHXL2-TMS57012, MSP430F5529

Hi E2E,

Good day!

We have one customer inquiring if TI offers any ADC EVM that is compatible with the Hercules Launchpads?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Art

  • Hi Art,

Hercules LaunchPads are compatible to any BoosterPacck that is designed to be compliant to the standard. For example, see this BoosterPack:

    http://www.ti.com/tool/BOOSTXL-ADS1219

Is there any particular ADC that the customer is planning to use? Please check that part's product page for more information on development kits available.

    Regards,

    Sunil

  • Hi Sunil,

    Good day!
Getting back on this inquiry, customer is asking if
    ADC128S102EVM is compatible with LAUNCHXL2-TMS57012 ?

And if it is, is it okay to populate the Booster Pack Site1 and Site2 with both ADC128S102EVM ?
    Thanks!

  • Hi Art,

I see that the MSP430F5529 Launchpad has some general-purpose I/O signals multiplexed with analog inputs. One such pin is used to drive the chip select for the SPI interface between the ADS128S102 and the host MCU. The TMS570LS12x LaunchPad has an analog input on this pin. The customer would need to blue-wire one of the general-purpose I/O signals to this pin on the header as per the schematic.

Other than that, I suppose there may be some dependencies on the host MCU for the software package that comes with the ADS128S102 BoosterPack. Any example software would need to be ported over to TMS570LS12x.

Let me know if you need any help reading the schematics for the ADS128S102 BoosterPack and the TMS570LS12x LaunchPad to identify the required connections.

Also, you can certainly connect two such ADS128S102 Boosterpacks given the same constraints listed above (one more blue-wired connection for the SPI chip select signal).

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Sunil
