TMS570LC4357: Self Test Controller (STC) and PLL configuration

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

Hello,

We are using the TMS570LC4357 and we need more information about the Self-test Controller ?

We don't know if after the reset generated by the STC once the its execution done, we have to initialize again the PLL or not.

Indeed,
After a "STC reset", if we don't configure again the PLL, the PLL works.
Otherwise, if after a "STC reset", we configure again the PLL to prevent the PLL Errata (SSWF021#45), the PLL seems to have a bad behaviour.

What is the behaviour of STC once its execution done regarding the PLL?
Is the STC reset modify the programming of PLL performed during intitialization ?

Could you confirm us if we don't need to perform PLL initiailization after a STC reset ? We don"t have this information in Texas documentation (reference manual, etc...)

Best regards,

Christopher

  • Hello Christopher,

PLL Errata is applied after Power-on Reset. STC generates CPU reset.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for your answer.

If my understanding is good, that means STC reset (that generates a CPU reset) does not modify the programming of PLL and clock

    Is it correct ?

    Best regards,

    Christopher

  • Hello Christopher,

Please refer to SPNA233A application report (  ) for details.

In this report is stated that "The workaround function should be called only after a power-on reset. " and:

" The purpose of the workaround routines is to get the PLL to successfully lock one time after power-on reset. The workaround routine does not initialize the PLL to the desired frequency nor does it leave the PLL enabled. After the PLL has locked once, it successfully locks each time using the desired settings until the next loss of power."

    Best regards,

    Miro
