RTOS/TM4C1290NCPDT: Future support for TI-RTOS in TM4C12X microcontrollers

Part Number: TM4C1290NCPDT

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

I've been using TI-RTOS in TM4C12X microcontrollers along with CCS8 for some time now, and I've just noticed TIRTOS-1887, which states I should be using a older version of the compiler and CCS. I would like some clarification about how severe are the problems in TIRTOS-1887 (the bug report simply states that there's no compatibility, but I've been able to compile and run code without running into problems) and if there's any forecast on when will a new version of TIRTOS for Tiva will be released that addresses these problems.

  • Hi Franco,

The issues we have hit with newer compilers are compiler warnings (benign, but annoying). We have not found any runtime issues. The newer CCS versions are fine as long as you get the older XDCtools. Newer versions of XDCtools are a problem (build errors). Newer versions of the NDK, SYS/BIOS and UIA take non-trivial porting. We have not tried newer TivaWare versions. So in summary, we probably over-stated the version requirements for CCS and the compiler but we were trying to reduce the support questions.

We have no current plan to release a patch release for TI-RTOS for TivaC.
