TMS570LS1227: 3.3v supply for external i2c chip from tms570ls12x hdk

Hi,

I am using the TMS570LS12x hdk for my experimental project to integrate the external slave i2c chip. The chip has 3.3v, 0v, sda, scl lines. I need to supply 3.3v to the chip using the TP21 of the HDK which is not the usual way of powering the external chip. Is there a way to tap the 3.3v from the HDK to supply the i2c chip?

Or can i use the GIO ports to drive them as output and supply the i2c?

Dinesh,

You can certainly not power the external I2C slave with an I/O pin. These pins are not meant to drive DC loads. You can tap the 3.3V (and GND) from the HDK to power this external PCB though. Please refer to the HDK schematics to identify which tap point you can use for this.

Hi Sunil,

Thanks for your reply. I have had a look in the HDK. The only place easy to tap is the TP21. The other places a re bit tricky and very minute points.
