Part Number: TM4C1294KCPDT
I'm getting my head around the IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol support in TM4C129 series processors to provide clock sync for a proprietary system we are putting together. My current intent is to use IEEE 1588 (2008) so I'm looking at the configuration needed in that context.
The EMACTIMSTCTRL register manages most of the time stamp related configuration including which message types get time stamps. The datasheet for the TM4C1294KCPDT says that SELPTP, TSMAST and TSEVNT control the PTP packet types for which a time stamp snapshot is taken, but I can't see anything that describes how these configuration bits should be set. What am I missing?
Note that this work is in the context of an internal subsystem that will not get exposed to the outside world so it does not need to strictly adhere to IEEE 1588 and there is some interest in keeping packets sent across the wire short so avoiding needless time stamps is of interest.
