UNIFLASH: flash-writer loading processor ID

Dear e2e community,

We recently read and performed the steps described in the Processor SDK RTOS Software Developer’s Guide paragraph 3.5.1 Uniflash to flash and image on an AMIC110 (TMDXICE110 board) using an XDS200 JTAG connection first to load the flash writer.

In the first step of this procedure (the loading of the flash programmer via JTAG) it is requested to provide the core number (option -n) and for the AMIC110 this number is provided in the example code as 1.

Since we are planing to move to a different processor family AM437x I have two questions:

Is this core number the number of cores present or is it an id for the core where the program is loaded?

If it is an id, where can we find this number for a different processor family (in our case AM437x)?

Please refer to the Uniflash Quick Start Guide.

The -n option is a zero based index of the core to operate on. So for a multi-core device, n=0 will program the first debuggable core in the scan chain, n=1 will program the second and so on.

The follow up question is where can i find, for a specific processor (e.g AM4377), the core index information?

You can see the list and order of cores in the target configuration file (.ccxml). The index is not explicitly called out but you can infer it by visual inspection of the target configuration file for your device/board, either by opening it in CCS or directly in an editor. For eg, for the AMIC110, the first core is the Cortex M3 and second core is CortexA8.
