TMS570LC4357: How to Configure DP83630 to Slave to PTP time

Is there a tutorial or document on how to configure the DP83630 onboard the TMS570LC43x launchpad to be a slave to PTP time on a network? I have tried following this example : https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/f/138/t/555796 with no luck. There appears to be a function Dp83640GetTimeStamp in the HL_phy_dp83640.c file. Is that what is needed to get time? When I call this function the value of time never changes and I also do not so the launchpad listed as a device in the PTP TrackHound application.
