Hello,

My target is TMS570LC4357.

I would like to do Measurement, calibration and loading to Flash on my target.

I already checkd Technical Manual, and it is described there are RTP, DMM and ETM.

I have two question.

Q1. To satisfy my demand, do I need to use both of RTP and DMM?

Q2. Could you please tell me about defference point of RTP/DMM and ETM?

Hi Sho,

RTP is used to trace all accesses to the internal RAM or peripherals without impacting the CPU's code execution. This uses a dedicated high-bandwidth interface to transfer the trace information to an external trace analyzer. See https://www.isystem.com/downloads/winIDEA/help9_12_256/index.html?ICETMS470.html

DMM is used to make write accesses to any on-chip RAM that is in the CPU's memory map, with minimal impact to the main CPU's code execution. This also uses a dedicated high-bandwidth interface to perform the writes to the selected address and is typically used for calibration of algorithms.

ETM is used to trace the execution of the main Cortex-R5F processor. This is a standard ARM CoreSight IP and follows the ETM v3 specification. Please refer to ARM CoreSight ETM-R5 TRM for more details.

To achive my objective(in this case Calibration, Measurement and loading to flash), I need to use both of RTP and DMM connecting VX1000, right?

Hi Sho,

RTP and DMM are used by tools like Vector VX1000 to support algorithm calibration and measurement. There is a JTAG interface on-chip which is used to program the Flash memory. This can be done using a JTAG emulator such as XDS200, which connects to your PC's USB port. Flash can be erased / programmed using software tools such as Uniflash, or IDEs such as Code Composer Studio or IAR Embedded Work Bench.
